History Shines On
Not all properties are created equal, as is immediately apparent on this five-acre masterpiece featuring unobstructed views across the Folly River. The Greek Revival planter’s cottage has survived virtually unchanged since 1830, including signatures discovered from when it served as a Confederate hospital during the Civil War. Working with Dufford Young Architects, Artis Construction’s meticulous restoration was sensitive and thorough, from replacing all sill plates to stabilizing the porch by repointing masonry piers, sistering historic frame members, and realigning skewed columns. We are proud that our work was honored with a 2020 Carolopolis Award, but even more proud that this timeless treasure will now be around for another century or two.
